Our Process
-
1. Client Brief
Understanding Your Needs
The first step in our design process is all about you. We begin with a detailed Client Brief, where we gather essential information about your project. We'll discuss your goals, budget, style preferences, and functional requirements. This is a collaborative process to ensure we fully understand your vision and expectations before moving forward.
-
2. Fee Proposal
Transparent Pricing for Your Project
After understanding your needs, we provide a comprehensive Fee Proposal outlining the costs associated with your project. This includes design services, timelines, and any additional considerations. We aim to offer clear, transparent pricing to ensure you're comfortable and confident with the investment, while staying within your budget.
-
3. Site Visit & Analysis
Evaluating the Potential of Your Space
In this step, we arrange a site meeting to get a firsthand understanding of the space and its surroundings. We evaluate the physical site conditions, including accessibility, layout, environmental factors, and any limitations or opportunities the location may present. Additionally, we conduct in-depth research into relevant property details, such as local council development control plans, zoning regulations, and other legal or planning requirements. This comprehensive analysis helps ensure that your design aligns with both your vision and regulatory guidelines.
-
4. Conceptual Design
Bringing Ideas to Life
We begin transforming your vision into a tangible concept. We create initial sketches, mood boards, and layout options, exploring different design ideas to find the best fit for your needs. This is where creativity meets functionality, and we work closely with you to refine the direction of the project
-
5. Design Development
Refining the Details
Once the concept is approved, we move on to refining the design. We focus on the finer details, including materials, finishes, and the layout of key spaces. At this stage, we’ll present you with more detailed drawings and 3D models, giving you a clearer picture of the final product.
-
6. Development Application
Navigating the Approval Process
After finalising the design, we prepare and submit a comprehensive set of drawings and supporting documents as part of the Development Application (DA) process to your local council. This includes detailed architectural plans, site analysis, materials and colours schedules, Statement of Environmental Effects, and any other required documentation to ensure compliance with local zoning and planning regulations. In some cases, an alternative approval process known as Complying Development may be an option. We assess this on a case-by-case basis to determine the best route for your project.
-
7. Construction Certificate
Preparing for Construction
Once development approvals are in place, in conjunction with secondary consultants we prepare a comprehensive set of working drawings for submission to the local council or certifier to obtain a Construction Certificate. These detailed drawings ensure that every aspect of the project complies with building codes and regulations, and enables a builder to prove a quote for the project.
